Story Walk Sedro-Woolley Saturday March 9, 2013

If you love reading and you love food, Sedro-Woolley’s Story Walk is for you!  The second annual event will be held Saturday, March 9, with 12 downtown businesses participating.  Local Celebrity Readers will read children’s books with a “food” theme from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with stories starting on the hour and half hour.  In addition, the Woolley Fiber Quilters will display quilts with a food theme at the participating businesses.  Last year’s event drew enthusiastic book lovers from all over Northwest Washington. 

Start on Metcalf Street; schedules will be posted in downtown windows and local guides will be on hand to help you find your favorites.  The Sedro-Woolley Public Library is choosing the books – this is a great way to sample popular literature for the young and young at heart!   Explore Sedro-Woolley’s downtown with covered sidewalks and easy strolling between story locations. 

 

Story venues span from the Community Bowling Center at the north end of downtown to Wells Fargo Bank at the south end.  The Sedro-Woolley Museum will also be a story location with lots of other fun exhibits to explore inside. 

 

This is a great event for kids and their parents, grandparents, and friends to enjoy.  It's certainly for the young and young at heart!  Last year we even had adults who came to hear the stories and see the quilts, but didn't bring any kids!  Well, everyone is welcome in downtown Sedro-Woolley!

Next meeting - February 6

The next Woolley Fiber Quilters meeting will be Wednesday, February 6th, at our regular meeting spot, the Hometown Cafe in downtown Sedro-Woolley.  We meet from 5:30  p.m. until about 6:30 or 7, depending on the amount of business to do. 

Right now, we're getting ready for Story Walk Sedro-Woolley on March 9th and our members are crafting quilts related to "food" for display at the Story Walk. 

We're also putting together a publicity plan for our annual quilt show. This year, our show, "Blast of Bubbles", will be held May 31, June 1&2, also in downtown Sedro-Woolley.

If you would like to get involved with WFQ we'd love to see you at our meeting!  There is always a lot going on and we are a busy group.  Have no fear!  Just jump in!

Woolley Fiber Quilters wrap up Winter Escape 2013!

Twenty quilters are now schooled in Judy Niemeyer techniques and ready to make spectacular quilts, thanks to Linda Tellesbo, certified teacher!

Woolley Fiber Quilters enjoy Linda Tellesbo!

We started our Winter Escape Weekend with a trunk show and lecture from Linda Tellesbo, our Judy Niemeyer-certified instructor who will be leading the two-day class that begins tomorrow.


Wow!

Her quilts are spectacular and the Judy Niemeyer pattern collection has something for everyone!

The lucky students will learn techniques for foundation piecing on paper that will make these complex-looking quilts easy and fun!  Linda also promises that students will be learning a lot about fabric selection for blendy backgrounds and contrasting design elements.

Let the fun begin!  We're so ready to play with color and fabric on this FOGGY weekend in Sedro-Woolley!!

Story Walk Sedro-Woolley is coming March 9th!  Readers will read parts of story books to kids and families on March 9th between 11 and 3 in downtown businesses.

This years stories will be about food... Jack and the Beanstalk, etc.

Sponsored by our Sedro-Woolley Library, our Chamber and Woolley Fiber Quilters, kids and families have fun visiting different shops and hearing different stories.

Volunteers are needed to read to the kids in 15-20 minute increments.
