Blast of Farms - the People's Choice!!

Here is a complete list of WINNERS from Blast of Farms! 

We ask the public to vote and tally the results for "People's Choice" winners in each category.  For the categories with the most entries we added two Honorable Mention slots.  We love to award ribbons! 

For celebrity judges this year we tapped the mayors of neighboring towns in Skagit County.  They had a difficult time choosing, as most of our celebrity judges do, but they all came through for us!

And in keeping with our farming theme, each of our ribbons was in the form of a mini-barn quilt!  All made by the members of WFQ.

Blast of Farms quilt show - the bed turning!

We enjoy our bed turning events so much!  This year, we held it in our venue #4, the Sedro-Woolley Chamber of Commerce!  Thanks so much to them for allowing us to use their beautiful new space - we held it at 11 and 2 all three days of the show, and our attendance was phenomenal!

Thanks also to Soroptimist International of Sedro-Woolley for loaning us chairs!

Day 1 of Blast of Farms is in the books! On to day 2!!

What a beautiful day for a quilt show!  We had so much fun - saw so many friends and made new ones.  I think everyone I talked to who was visiting our show wanted to join one of the (many) quilting groups in Sedro-Woolley!  We would be happy to have them all. 

So here are a few more photos of blocks to entice you to come to our show.  We are so proud of our local quilters!  They always submit a great variety of quilts for viewing.  Day two is your opportunity!

Blast of Farms quilt show opens 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 5th!

Here are the basic things you need to know about our DOWNTOWN SEDRO-WOOLLEY quilt show!

We have FOUR locations this year.  Be sure to see everything!

817 Metcalf - Sedro-Woolley Community Fellowship Church (formerly Oliver Hammer and now next door to Oliver Hammer). Medium, Small, Extra Small, Youth, "Other", and some Large quilts are hung in this building.  Our vendors are here and our raffle quilt is here (you need tickets).  Also our popular "boutique" where you can shop for locally handcrafted items.  Come early!  Many of these items are one of a kind!

903A Metcalf - formerly Curves - Most of the Large quilts are here. 

824 Metcalf - Cascade Fabrics!  Holiday, Challenge, and Theme quilts (including the much anticipated "Corn Challenge" are in the classroom at the rear of the store.

810 Metcalf - Sedro-Woolley Chamber of Commerce.  Our "Bed-Turning" will be held here at 11 and 2 each day of the show.  Come early to get a seat!  Takes about 30 minutes.  Everyone loves to see vintage quilts and hear their stories. 

Pay $3 admission at the 817 or 903A buildings and have your hand stamped. 
Remember there will be a street fair and lots going on!

Public bathrooms are under the clock tower at Hammer Heritage Square (you can't miss it) and there are modern port-a-potties just around the corner from Video West, on Woodworth street.

Our spectacular raffle quilt, "Blast of Freedom" is at the 817 Metcalf building and the winning ticket will be drawn at 4 p.m. on Saturday!  Then we'll reveal our new raffle quilt...be sure to see another amazing work of art!

Parking:  There are municipal lots available on the south end of Metcalf (look for the "horse"), behind The Woolley Market, and at the north end of Metcalf just before Northern street.  And there are lots of other places to park.  The three blocks of Metcalf north of State Street will be closed for the street fair.

Motorcycle show Saturday.  Kids' games and the fiercely competitive Adult Jump Rope contest on Saturday.  Vintage Car Show Sunday. 

Finally, be sure to VOTE for your favorite quilts in each category with a People's Choice ballot.  Votes will be tallied and the winners announced late Saturday afternoon, so get your votes in early!

Blast of Farms Quilt Show! Show setup day!!

Success!  Another big team of volunteers came this morning to start hanging the show, and we had a fun day!  The vendors set up, cookies were consumed, last minute decisions were made, and we are ready to roll! 

Here are some photos to get you in the mood for a fun quilt show.  There is certainly something to inspire EVERYONE!

Remember, our popular bed-turning will be at the SW Chamber of Commerce office at 11 and 2, all three days of the show.  Be sure to see it!

 

 

Blast of Farms quilt show! Stand assembly day!

Wow!  What a great group of volunteers we had for stand assembly day!  We got them put together and staged, lickety split!  As usual, many of them are shy and managed to disappear when I brought out the camera.  Some of the people in the photos are shy, too, but I was too fast for them to escape!

So THANKS to every one who helped out.  It was a perfect day and we are ready to hang the show tomorrow! 

Blast of Farms opens to viewers on Friday at 10:00 a.m.  We KNOW you'll love our show!

Blast of Farms begins! Quilt Turn-In Day is over!

We checked  and packaged for transport all of the quilts for our show today!  Beginning at 9 a.m. at Cascade Fabrics, we started with a little training for the volunteers, checking in the volunteers' quilts for practice, and then we were off and running with our exhibitors!

Our registrar, Ginny, is a GENIUS.  Everything went smoothly and she is able to print any reports we need from MS Access.  And she has a team of helpers who are just as attentive to detail.  THANKS to her for the great day!

One glitch...we didn't have enough boxes!  But a friend saved the day, as you will see below.  

What a great show this will be!  Something to inspire everyone.  Be sure to come to Blast of Farms!
