Blast of Baskets - our Bed Turning was a Blast!!

The 2016 "bed turning" was full of quilting education with some fun thrown in!  Teri had an idea this year - that we could show a vintage quilt and its modern cousin, with a little of the history of the pattern and of each quilt.  So off we went into quilt history-land, with Teri leading the way and Londa and Noni as quilt-holders.  The bed turning was held twice each day of the three-day show and the audiences were always full!  From Dresden Plate to Arrow Star to Double Wedding Ring,  you're sure to see some of your favorites!

Thanks to the quilters who loaned us their vintage treasures and who made the modern cousins for our great display!

Starting with a BASKET quilt for our theme, Blast of Baskets!

Blast of Baskets quilt awarded to raffle winner! A surprise!

We are SO PLEASED to announce that the WINNER of our Blast of Baskets raffle quilt for 2016 is - Country Meadow Village!!  They were our major sponsor and had some tickets in the mix.  This quilt is so delightful and so appreciated that we wanted it to go to a really good home - and it did!

CMV Program Director, David Bricka accepted the prize and with a few enthusiastic helpers displayed it for our photos, below.  This quilt will be appreciated as a piece of art and we can all go visit it!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the raffle.  The proceeds help us bring a true community quilt show to Sedro-Woolley every year!

Blast of Baskets - day 2! A perfect quilt show day!

Another day of fun and great attendance from our friends, neighbors, travelers, and quilt appreciators!  We are so happy to see you all.  The day was HOT by local standards.  But inside, we were cool and quilty!

The voting was intense!  People's Choice results will be announced on Sunday.

Two showings of the bed turning at 11 and 2 were well-attended and informative!

Our biggest event of the day was the drawing for our Blast of Baskets raffle quilt.  So many wanted it!  We sold all 1000 tickets.

Gary W from Anacortes drew the winning ticket from our barrel and the proud winner was:  Country Meadow Village!  A great result, as we know that community of active adults is FULL of quilters and quilt appreciators so the Blast of Baskets quilt will go to a GREAT home!

Immediately afterwards, we revealed our 2017 raffle quilt:  Blast of Birds!

Ticket sales help us offset the costs of the show and support quilting education in Sedro-Woolley.  We always appreciate your support!!

See you on Sunday at Blast of Baskets!

Blast of Baskets - easy to find!

Have you found us yet?  On Highway 20, next to the Three Rivers Inn.

(street address is 221 Central AVE but it fronts Highway 20).

Day 1 of Blast of Baskets is in the books!

What a wonderful response from our attendees and volunteers!  We opened our doors at 10 this morning and they came pouring in!  So many quilts to see!  And the bed turning is a BIG hit.  Our member boutique is full-to-bursting with great gift ideas.  We have four carefully selected vendors (hint:  bring along those scissors that need sharpening).  And PLEASE vote for your favorite quilts.  Votes will be tabulated Saturday afternoon and ribbons awarded for the People's Choice favorites in every category plus the Celebrity Judges' choices.

And we welcome YOU to become involved with the Woolley Fiber Quilters or any of the fine quilting groups in Sedro-Woolley.  This is a quilting town!
