Blast of Birds quilt show - a preview in blocks!

This will whet your appetite for our quilt show and bring you to the land of inspiration at Blast of Birds!  A very small sampling of what's waiting for your viewing and appreciation.  Quilters come to be inspired but non-quilters also come!  They are quilt-appreciators and crafters in other media and they enjoy seeing what their friends and neighbors in the fiber arts are doing!

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Cascade Middle School in Sedro-Woolley!  10 - 5 on Friday and Saturday and 10 - 4 on Sunday.  The school entrance is at 905 McGarigle Road and there is a huge, flat parking lot!  Come for the quilts, stay for the bed turning, the boutique, the demonstrations, the vendors, and the Lions Club food service just outside our back door!  Bring your friends.  Sedro-Woolley is the quilting hub of Skagit County.  Blast of Birds begins!

Quilt show setup - day two of two

We did it!  The show is hung, setup, staged, labeled, marked, and prepped.  Ready for YOU Friday morning at Blast of Birds!

Here are a few more photos of the second setup day.  It is interesting that these people are moving so fast that several of the photos I took are BLURRY and I didn't post them here.  But this is a working crew!

The few folks pictured here are a fraction of the people who made this show come together.  More photos are pending for the weekend.  When they're "dressed to receive"...

We are already amazed at the size of the show and the quality of the entries as well as the FUN in the quilts on display.  You'll love the theme category, featuring BIRDS!  And we have so many quilts in the LARGE category we barely knew what to do with them all.

When you come to the show you'll get a ballot for the People's Choice awards.  Be sure to fill it out and select your favorites.  We have a lot of ribbons to award!

Quilt show setup - day one of two

Did you know that it takes two days to set up our quilt show?  We are getting good at this, but it still takes TWO days to take in all of the quilts, retrieve and stage all of the quilt stands (thanks, Fidalgo Island Quilters!), and mark out spaces for:  vendors, the boutique, the bed turning, special exhibits, demonstrations, and the area where we will WELCOME you to the show!

On day two we will hang the quilts and the vendors will create their wonderful booths.  And we'll do a lot of last minute stuff which involves running around and making adjustments.  Just in time for the show to open Friday morning at 10!

So here are some photos of a FEW of the people who worked hard from 9 a.m. this morning until 7 p.m. tonight:

See you Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Blast of Birds!!
